Banana Leaf Sconces

banana_leaf_sconce2

Last weekend we took a day trip up to Kansas City and stopped by the new Arhaus store. Michael and I were both drawn to these two banana leaf sconces hanging on the wall. So they came home with us!

get the look:

1. salvaged wood mirror
2. banana leaf sconces
3. driftwood garland
4. round bone frame
5. faux succulents
6. Ash paint by Restoration Hardware
7. stone fireplace mantel

They are huge and the perfect size to fill the space above our fireplace mantel. It’s hard to get a size perspective from photos so here’s a photo of Arden and me in front of them last week before church. I’ve since redecorated the mantel but you can get an idea of size. I’m 5’3″ and our ceilings are 12′.

I also added some driftwood garlands and faux succulents for greenery to the mantel.

The silhouettes of my baby boys in the round bone frame is one of my favorite things so it will always have a special spot in our home.

elephant_ears1

While we’re on the topic of over-sized leaves… The elephant ears are in giant mode in our front yard this month. I cut a few of the smaller leaves to add a little tropical greenery to our kitchen.

The elephant ears in our front flower bed are at least a foot taller than me!

They dwarf Arden!

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Delivery!

hunterboots2

Michael surprised me with a pair of the tall back zip Hunter boots from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I was so excited when the box was delivered this weekend! Hunter boots have been on my wish list for a very long time but I’ve been battling wide calves. Finally my calves are down to a size where boots aren’t impossible anymore! I’m so thankful these boots have a back zipper because it makes them so easy to get on. I tried them on over a pair of leggings and they fit perfectly! I highly recommend these if you’ve been wanting a pair of Hunters and since they’re such a good price for the style with zippers. I’m impressed with the accordion panel under the zipper that will keep the boots waterproof even with a zipper. They come in a short style with zippers too!

Life with baby Arden

happybaby

Let’s play a little catch up! We’ve been spending the past 10 weeks with this sweet little guy.
There’s not a lot to report other than he is a happy and healthy baby boy.
He’s the perfect addition to our family.

I’ve been taking weekly photos of sweet Arden and it’s fun to watch how much he’s growing.

valentine

We celebrated Valentine’s day with our boys last Friday then headed on a weekend date to Kansas City.
It was our first time away from the boys. We missed them but enjoyed our rare date.
We ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory when we arrived to the city then shopped at Restoration Hardware and LuluLemon.
We browsed Burberry and Lush for the first time then spent the afternoon in Ikea (where I picked up these boxes for our closet).
We also drove through historic neighborhoods looking at houses (one of my favorite hobbies). I wish I could decorate them all.

valentine2

Michael surprised me with a new LuluLemon workout mat and NB tennis shoes for Valentine’s day.
We’ve been doing the Keto diet this year and it’s time for me to add exercise to my weekly routine.
So far we’ve lost a combined 62 pounds. It’s a high fat low carb lifestyle where fat is burned faster.
I keep my calories under 1200 and my net carbs under 20g by tracking my food in the My Fitness Pal app on my iphone.
I’m rarely hungry on this diet and I don’t have sugar cravings. That’s saying a lot considering I think I have a sugar and carb addiction.
I highly recommend Keto if you have a bunch of weight to drop.

Arden’s monogrammed Easter basket arrived in the mail last week! He is ready for the Easter bunny.

snow1

We had our first snow of the season on Sunday night so we played in the snow on Monday morning.
It was a very dry snow so we couldn’t get a snowman to work but Graham enjoyed throwing the snow in the air and sledding.

TOMS on Zulily!

toms_zulily

Tuesday afternoon I received an email from Zulily giving me a head start on their rare TOMS sale tomorrow. I’m not sure why I made the list. I just thought y’all might like a heads up that TOMS are on sale Wednesday. This is the only place I’ve seen them discounted. People seem to be snatching them up fast, so hurry! These are my favorites from the TOMS sale for women and the tiny TOMS for little boys. I wish I had a place to wear these cute wedges! I have one pair of TOMS that I wore all summer and I love to dress Graham in tiny TOMS. They are also offering free shipping if you spend $65 or more.

Christmas Lights Downtown & Our Elf

bentonville_christmas_lights1

This weekend we took Graham to the lighting of the Christmas lights in our town’s downtown square.
It was freezing but fun! Graham now asks to turn on the Christmas tree lights at home if he sees they are off.

There were cute pony and carriage rides around the square…

This weekend our Elf on the Shelf also arrived from the north pole. We named him Boxwood.
He came in like a wrecking ball!  (Miley Cyrus joke)

Graham loves to find Boxwood’s new hiding spot each morning before breakfast and
usually ends up pretending to share his oatmeal with Boxwood.

Trick-or-treating Neighborhood Hayride

halloween1

For Halloween, our new neighborhood hosted a trick-or-treating hayride for the kids.
Graham had so much fun and we were able to meet some new neighbors.
We fell in love our neighborhood even more!
