These Ork Posters are impossible to resist. I was instantly obsessed with them the moment I saw them. They combine my love of cities with my passion for typography. My favorite so far is Philadelphia of course because that’s where I live. They’re a great way to remember places we’ve lived, traveled, and dream to visit. I hope Chicago graphic designer Jennifer Beorkrem designs Baltimore and Little Rock too. Their graphic quality would add a splash of interest to my office walls. Wouldn’t these make great Christmas gifts for your buddies?

Juliska sent out a memo this week announcing their annual warehouse sale so that gave me an extra incentive to go. The perfectly displayed shop blew me away. The shop is also a cafe to make it a “sip and shop”. Mike and I drooled over the café’s mouth blown glass cake domes and jars of colorful candy.
A nine foot Koi fountain displaying Juliska glassware is the first thing I noticed when I entered the shop. Each glass piece is mouth blown by artisans in the hills outside Prague. Juliska also carries ceramic dishes that are made in Portugal.
Jardins du Monde (shown above) is my favorite Juliska ceramic line. The elaborate details and unusual shapes get me every time. This collection is inspired by gardens in Italy, France, Spain and England. Luckily, I found a few gorgeous serving pieces in the warehouse sale for a fantastic deal. I also found some gigantic black Christmas ornaments (for only $1 each) that will be perfect on my black and white Christmas tree in the upcoming months. The ornaments must have been old store displays. If I had a truck I would have purchased so much more! There was everything from furniture, glass lighting, pewter stoneware, table linens, to every dinnerware line.
Juliska’s latest line is pewter stoneware that is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. It was Mike’s favorite. If you’re getting married soon, consider Juliska for your registry. If you’re not getting married but love quality design, stop by their shop. They also have locations in Dallas and Atlanta. You can also find Juliska in other retail shops.

Don’t these beautiful books look vintage? When I first came across images of these graphic covered books, I assumed they were out of print. I did a little research and finally found that they are the latest for the Penguin Designer Classics line (also called Waterstone’s Hardback Classics). They’re hard to find in the United States but have been released in the UK and Canada. Amazon and Barnes & Noble have a few that you can pre-order for an early November ship date. I ordered the few I could find. Their interesting graphic patterns (designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith) would add a special splash of color to a white bookshelf in any room. I can’t decide which one is my favorite. This is such a perfect collection.

Last week I happened to click on a link to the furniture and was instantly loving it. Michael liked it too so we decided it was time for a master bedroom update. A few days later we had nine boxes to assemble! Ooops. We just took it one piece at a time and ended up finishing the assembly in about two days. We are so pleased with the new furniture. The espresso finish and square hardware are better than we expected. We now have two dressers, two night stands and a new sleigh bed. The new furniture lead to my latest DIY project. I decided to line all of the new 14 drawers with beautiful paper. I found this botanical paper from Paper Source. It arrived today! The paper is such a nice surprise each time I open a drawer that I wanted to share it with you.
DIY Supplies:
- 2 rolls of paper (Roll contains 2 sheets - 26 1/2″ x 39″)
- 7 flat sheets (Sheet size - 19 1/2″ x 27″)
- xacto knife
- ruler
- cutting mat
- drawers to line
Before you go out to purchase your paper you need to measure the interior length and width of the drawers. I needed four sheets of paper to measure 30″ x 17″ for four long drawers so I had to purchase two rolls of large paper. The remaining ten drawers used the smaller flat sheets of paper measuring 19.5″ x 27″. I cut two sheets of the flat paper in half and down to size for the four night stand drawers (two for him and two for me). I did the same thing for another set of two small drawers on my dresser. The remaining four flat pieces of paper were cut down to size for the other four wide drawers. Just slip the cut paper into place and you’re done. It was a lot easier than I was expecting. It makes me happy that I found a spot for these lovely sheets of botanical paper. Lately I’ve had a thing for bugs! It must be from designing so many place card critters.
